How to Turn Support Emails Into Sales
Having thousands of active subscribers and a dozen and more websites actively taking sales automatically around the clock like I do is great, but along with that comes a barrage of support emails.
Some days are heavier than others....
some days you just don't want to face your inbox!Even though you might be tempted to go the "select all > delete" route...take a second to realize that answering support emails is part of the job...
And you will be surprised that being a good web marketer and answering support emails can really pay off.
Here are some reasons and benefits of being the good support emails answerer...
- Your customer expects it.. 'nuff said
- Your customer will be thrilled you answered
- Build trust with your readers on a personal basis
- Opens up opportunities for sales!....because sometimes a support email is not what you expect
Most emails you'll get will be when a customer has a problem with a purchase. Either they couldn't get the download or couldn't order...or some other website issue.
If they have already paid and didn't get the download, it is your responsibility to follow through on your part of the deal..no question about it. Send them a download link.
I use
$7 secrets script and
RAP script almost exclusively for my info-product sales sites. I don't know about other scripts but if you are using these 2 scripts, you'll know all too well about your customers missing the download page. Apart from that, they are great scripts though ;)
One other common type of email I get
from potential customers who want to buy but can't!Can you say -"ka-Ching"?
You can easily turn this type of support email into a sale! This often happens with products I'm selling on my
RAP powered info product market place website where I sell a lot of different ebooks and videos etc. A customer will buy one product, then sign up as an affiliate and test their link which sets their cookie on their browser and when they go to buy another product, they can't because paypal won't let them buy from themselves.
This is when I love to give them a new link (my affiliate link) and say "this one should work"...and it does because it overwrites the cookie.
They are happy because they can finally buy it..and I'm happy because I just got a new customer ;)Other emails will be from readers or customers who want your advice. And this can be another chance for some easy pickings.
Usually, for any question that your readers can ask...there is a handful of products you can recommend them to buy to solve their problem. But I don't just say "here..." and give them a link.
I like to try to
answer their question as best I can and explain how if you do A and then B...you can see the result of C.
After I give that advice, I can give them links to recommended products and say...this will help you do A and this will help you do B. So it's not an obvious sales pitch. The can see why they need to get A and B.
One more important reason to watch for customer support emails is that
they can tell you when something on your site is broken (exceeded bandwidth, broken link, sometimes a typo :o) which can harm sales.
These are just some ways how answering support emails can make you a more respected and wealthier marketer.

ps.
Don't forget...simple manners like a "thankyou" or "sorry for the inconvenience" can go a long way too.

Are You Busy Selling Or Just Busy?
I have a quick story I wanted to share with you.
A friend of mine found it on page 60 of a new book he's reading by Michael Masterson called,
“Ready, Fire, Aim”, and when I read it, I knew I had to share it with you today because I’ll bet there’s a good chance you can relate to it as I did.
Here you go...
"A woman I have known since high school recently called to tell me about a cosmetics business she was starting. She had spent several years developing her own line of natural skin treatments and had shared them with others, who raved about them.
Encouraged by their reactions, she decided to go forward.
She’d spent two or three years and all of her money packaging a dozen products and producing all sorts of ancillary materials. She told me about the new labels she was designing, the contracts she as negotiating, the shopping she was doing for retail space.
“But have you tried to sell anything?” I asked her.
“Everything’s not about selling,” she scolded me. “When the time is right, my products will sell.”
Because she’s a good friend, I kept pestering her, hoping she would do what she had to do to get her business going. But as far as she was concerned, her business was already up and running. She was busy day and night working on it, and she was spending all kinds of money.
Eventually, of course, we stopped talking about it. And I sometimes wonder what she could have done with those products she’d created. They were really very good.”
This is an interesting story isn’t it?
Personally, I wasted my first year pretending to be in business just as the woman in this story had.
I was busy. I was spending money. I was getting organized, reading all the ebooks, attending all of the training calls, and trying to market my websites. Once things were ready, I was going to be rich, but…
The sales never came. When the majority of entrepreneurs start their businesses, they spend their time, money, and efforts on building an infrastructure designed to support their 100th sale… Nice office equipment, a new headset for their phone, an 800 number, fancy new business cards, and 100’s of brochures and info packets to hand out.
Yet, all that really matters is getting that 1st sale. Until that happens, everything else is just wasted energy.
- People who think business is done in this order, “Get organized, then sell.” Usually fail.
- People who finally realize business is really done in this order, “Sell first, then get organized.” Usually win.
Unfortunately, many people are
scared of the idea of selling. It conjures up images of arm-twisting and manipulation, followed by rejection.
This is why it’s always pushed to the last item on the business “to-do” list. But in reality, it doesn’t have to be that way and it shouldn't be.
Selling can be the most rewarding process in the world when both sides feel like they’ve come out winners.
So here's what you should do next. Start selling like a maniac!
First, you must have
confidence in your products or opportunity you want to promote. If you don't have confidence in your product, you are cheating yourself and your customers and you won't make any money...or you'll make a little but find it will dry up very quickly.
In order to be successful, you must be able to present your offer and sell with passion and 100% confidence that it will bring you and your customer complete 100% satisfaction.
Then actively get the word out! Get intense about it. Advertise like mad, get traffic, contact other marketers, create products, create an affiliate program, increase your online presence.
Everything doesn't have to be perfect from the start. Like I mentioned above, you need to focus on getting the sale first, not getting everything perfect. Once you get the ball rolling, you'll spot the weak points that you will need to fix.
You can relate this to the
"line in the water" story.
If you're wasting too much time cleaning your rod, sorting your tackle box, trying different bait or fishing line and all this time your line is not in the water, how are you going to catch any fish?
Are you busy selling or just busy? This is part of one of the lessons I share in my
Next Internet Disaster report. Learn more about how to start selling like a maniac and other online business success breeding skills, mindsets and techniques in that report inside that reporthere.
As always, your comments are always appreciated!

The Formula For Marketing Success
A run down on how to successfully market (to any market).
You need to get this right if you want to succeed on the
internet or any business for that matter.
There are 4 parts to marketing. 1. A target market (a group of people with a common interest eg. body builders)2. A product (physical or digital)3. An offer (to get the sale $$$)4. Delivery of the product (satisfy the customer)You take away any one of these parts and you're not
going to be in business very long. However, there is
a special formula to make these pieces work together
for pr.ofit.
** You need the right market** You need the right product** You need the right timeJust think of it like fishing. Go to the wrong place
and the fish won't bite. Use the wrong bait..the fish
won't bite. Go at the wrong time....no fish!
Whatever you do..don't be trying to sell diet pills
to guys going bald...that's the wrong market and wrong
product.
We can't control time but we can control people's
emotions and impulses to a certain extent. Direct
marketing is all about getting prospects to
"act now"or take some type of action...
either try your productor buy it.And that brings me to another important point.
Action is needed by you, the marketer to get things
done. Do some research, find a market, find a product,
send out your offer and deliver the goods.
That's the formula for marketing success.Stuart Stirling
