Goodbye BlogRush! (in case you didn't hear already)

I just got an email from John Reese informing me that his 2007 creation BlogRush will be closing down. It is a real shame to see this happen and I give John and his team credit for giving it all they had.

The infamous blog traffic generating widget was plagued with criticism and abuse right from the start, not to mention the bagging John Reese copped for the whole idea turning into a flop.

I was on the fence about Blogrush at first, of course there are pros and cons with it, but I was happy to support it on a couple of my sites. After all, it did get me traffic for free!

In the email from John, I kind sort of feel his disappointment as he tells us that it's the end for Blogrush.

Here's a short snippet from the email where he lets us feel his pain...

"Last but not least I want to say that I hope the failure of this service doesn't in any way discourage other entrepreneurs from coming up with crazy ideas at 4AM (like I did with this one) and from "going for it" to just try and see if something will work. Without trying there can be no success. And as we all know, ideas are worthless without action. The Web wouldn't be what it is today without entrepreneurs trying all sorts of crazy ideas."

I don't think John is a failure. I hope he brings out an even crazier idea next time and you can be sure I and many others will be behind him on it if it's even half as good as Blogrush.
